Individual Therapy:
Children and Adolescents

Parents and caregivers often feel at loss when they realize their child or teenager is suffering emotionally and/or behaviorally. While most of us view childhood as a care-free time in our lives, this is not always the case. Children and teenagers can experience the same emotional health and mood disorders as adults do.

Some common reasons children and teenagers come to therapy are:

  • Persistent worry, anxiety, or fearfulness

  • Preoccupation with illness or their own appearance

  • A sudden, unexplained drop in grades at school

  • Obsessively performing routines during the day, such as washing hands

  • Dieting obsessively

  • A loss of interest in activities that were once enjoyed
